KEEN Project

KEEN Project

Keen gives the low-income youth we serve, the information they need to make healthy lifestyle choices. One of those opportunities is the Youth Outdoor Connection Project, which has provided environmental education and introduced low income urban youth to healthy outdoor activities in Texas Parks and Wildlife facilities, local parks and area lakes. Since 2009, the NSCDC has successfully taken 3,014 youth to environmental educational activities such as fishing, camping, hiking and other outdoor activities. We have also taken 500 students, teachers, and volunteers from Van Zandt Guinn Elementary, Morningside Elementary and Morningside Middle School for environmental education at Glen Rose State Park.
